Evidence of Wonder

Produced by Harvard Office of the Arts, ARTS FIRST, is the annual celebration of student and faculty creativity. On April 26-28th over 225 music, theater, dance, film, and visual arts events, most free of charge and open to the public, will take place throughout campus.

Evidence of Wonder started as a collective of twelve Arts in Education students meeting to collaboratively design a project for the Arts First Festival. It was quickly determined that the project should be open to all Ed school students, it should engage the public in both a moment of delight and surprise, as well as encourage them to reflect on education/educators (no small order).

What developed from those goals was the idea of massive and unexpected gift giving. In order to create the gifts we solicited students throughout the Ed school to lead open arts session in the Gutman Library lobby.  In total there were nine workshops offered and facilitated by students from various programs.

The workshops generated approximately 125 gifts that will be distributed throughout the Arts First festival.
